DIY Body Scrub Recipes
1. Brown Sugar DIY Body Scrub
This exfoliating and moisturizing face scrub lasts for a week. Lemon juice brightens your skin and exfoliates it (with the brown sugar). Witch hazel is astringent and tightens your pores, but it also has impressive antibacterial properties. Not only is olive oil moisturizing, it’s also rich in healing Vitamin E. Honey is antiviral, antibacterial, tightens pores and is so healthy for the skin!
You’ll need:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp lemon juice, or 1 drop of lemon essential oil
1/2 tsp witch hazel
2 tbsp grapeseed or olive oil
1/2 tbsp honey
a drop or two of the essential oil of your choosing (optional)
Mix the ingredients together in a small jar. Wet with your hands with warm water before applying, or right after you step out of a steamy shower! Work the scrub onto your face and body with circular motions. Rinse with warm water.
2. Coffee Body Scrub Recipe
You drink it everyday to stay alert. Why not take advantage of coffee’s multiple uses? It’s easy to see why coffee will exfoliate your skin, but did you know it also contains amazing antioxidants?
These scrubs will leave you feeling so smooth. Check out these amazing coffee scrubs for your face and body!
For an exfoliating DIY coffee face scrub, you’ll need:
3 tablespoons coffee grounds (fresh preferred)
1 tablespoon natural oil of your choice: Olive, grape seed, coconut, or almond
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Mix dry ingredients, limiting the brown sugar based on the consistency you want. Then, add oil to the mixture. Massage onto your face with circular motions. Rinse with warm water.
For a full body coffee scrub, you’ll need:
1/2 cup ground coffee
1/2 cup coconut palm sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Carefully warm coconut oil if solid, and let it return to room temperature before mixing with other ingredients. This way all of the exfoliants will not dissolve in the oil. Mix all ingredients until combined. Store in an airtight container.
3. Lemon Sugar DIY Face and Body Scrub
While this lemon-sugar scrub can be used on your face and body, it’s best for those extra-rough spots: hands (nail beds and cuticles), elbows, knees and feet.
Lemon is a great source of Vitamin C, and the juice tightens the skin and fades age spots. Sugar is a natural exfoliant that helps to tighten pores and slough off old, dead cells. Honey contains antioxidants that heal the skin and antibacterial properties that prevent acne breakouts. Honey is a natural humectant that hydrates the skin by locking in water. Lastly, olive oil moisturizes and its Vitamin E works to heal and protect the skin from wear and tear.
Head to toe, your body will glow with a new radiance.
You’ll need:
1/2 fresh lemon
1/2 cup of granulated sugar
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of organic honey
Note: Adjust lemon juice and honey ratios for the consistency you prefer. Use 1/2 of a lemon to every 1/2 cup of granulated sugar.
Mix lemon juice and olive oil together in a bowl. Add honey and stir quickly until mixture is medium-thick in consistency. Store in an airtight container.
For use as a face scrub, rub onto problem areas of the face with gentle circular motions for seven to ten minutes. This scrub is great for uneven skin tone and dryness or acne breakouts. Rinse with warm water.
For use as a body scrub, rub onto rough, dry trouble areas for three to five minutes. Rinse with warm water.
4. Coconut Lime DIY Body Scrub
This fruity body scrub contains just three ingredients! Again, sugar is a natural exfoliant, as is salt. Coconut oil possesses antioxidant and anti-aging properties. Lime essential oil is astringent, antiseptic, antiviral, restorative, and contains many other beneficial properties. This scrub will make your whole body feel youthful and refreshed!
You’ll need:
1/2 cup virgin coconut oil
1 cup organic sugar or salt
20 drops of lime essential oil
If hardened, melt coconut oil over low temperature until it’s reached a liquid state. Mix melted coconut oil with sugar (or salt). Stir in 20 drops of lime essential oil. Apply after a shower or as needed. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
